Stone Design’s Onyx offerings are an incredibly stunning and rare collection. These materials are hard to find, exotic and breathtaking. Our onyx line is an eclectic mix of patterns, colors and movement. The translucency of many onyx makes it an incredible choice as a backdrop or table top for light to shine through – thus, creating one of the most stunning applications of natural stone to be seen. Onyx is a sedimentary calcite, commonly marked by bands, rings, or stripes. Many onyx are translucent. Due to change in the meaning of the word over the ages, when ancient texts refer to “alabaster” they actually mean onyx. This translucent stone is synonymous with luxury living and has been used to decorate the living spaces of the rich and famous.
