Stone Design’s Natural Slate represents some of the highest-quality slates available in the marketplace. There is a reason natural slate has been a large design element for centuries. The natural texture makes it ideal for flooring and adds warmth, texture and richness to every application. From palaces dating back to ancient times, to small farmhouses in Tuscany, natural slate is a constant in history and a necessity for today’s design.

Natural Slates from Stone Design contain vibrant colors and unique textures making them ideal for interior applications and some exterior applications. The most common colors of slates are earthy shades and mixes of brown, beige, yellow, black, dark-gray, and greenish-gray but shades of pink, purple and copper are also found. Slates containing a higher quartz content are often referred to as Quartzite. These quartzitic-slates have a shimmer or sparkle to them and can often be honed or even polished. There is typically a high variation among the pieces quarried from the same location. This variation adds to the beautiful texture and depth of natural slate in any application.
